Something New

Since starting my at home business, all I've really done is sell yarn projects. Here and there I dabbled a bit in jewelry but I've always gone back to my yarn. My grandma taught me to knit but I was the one who taught myself crochet. There are plenty of other crafts I would like to try but I just don't know how. I can't sew, despite my envy of people who can, I can't sculpt or take great pictures, but every now and then I can teach myself something new. Yesterday I started on a new self taught craft: ribbon bows! I've made two different kinds since yesterday and will continue to make more. Here are pictures of my newest items up for sale!

Etsy and Kali's Kreations

This is a little background about my Etsy store. I started trying to sell things on Etsy on September 8, 2011. By the end of 2011, I made one sell. A little disappointing but I kept at it. So far this year in 2012 I've had 8 sells, which is better then last year. In 2013, I'm hoping to continue to market myself and spread the word of what I do. I hope to sell more ready made stuff than custom orders. (I do custom orders which have contributed to about 75% or so of my orders from my facebook page.)

Getting a business started isn't easy but having a husband whose supportive is a great bonus. He has come with me to vender/craft fairs and he makes helpful suggestions and he supports me in just about every way a husband can. Having him be in the military has helped too. We aren't rolling in dough or anything but it has allowed me to focus my time on spreading the word as far as I can.

I hope to gather as many followers on my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/KalisKreations), my Twitter (@kalijames13), my Instagram (kaliskreations), my etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/kalijames13?ref=si_shop), my storenvy (http://kaliskreations.storenvy.com/) and now this blog, as possible before my baby comes in May so I can take a few weeks off away from the computer and the crochet hook without people forgetting about me! When I'm not using my hands to make something, I'm online trying to gather followers and share my photos.
